Memories Restored is a mixed reality experience that overlays AI-generated worlds onto a real physical venue. The concept began with parallel universes that share identical physical structures but carry entirely different narratives — the idea that alternate realities might bleed into one another, and that ordinary objects can hold memories powerful enough to revive a forgotten space.
The player explores the venue with a virtual flashlight, guided by narration, uncovering fragments of a parallel world hidden inside the room they are physically standing in. Finding key points reveals sections of an abandoned environment. Scanning and interacting with real objects triggers the transformation: an abandoned bar becomes vibrant again, a forgotten corner resolves into a warm lounge. The boundary between the physical venue and the alternate reality is deliberately unstable.
My Responsibilities: Captured the venue as a photogrammetry mesh and drove the Gaussian Splat generation pipeline. Maintained spatial continuity between generated splats and the physical environment. Integrated the splat world states into Unity with a sequential frame system, and optimized runtime performance across the combined splat, VPS and object detection stack.
